Happy Thanksgiving from Popolo Catering

Today marks a bustling day in the Popolo Catering kitchen, where turkeys sizzle in the oven and potatoes transform into creamy mashed goodness. Simultaneously, orders are being fulfilled, making their way to family tables. Amidst the hustle, a family bonds, creating memories that are unique to our bustling Popolo kitchen. Different than families preparing a single Thanksgiving meal, we’re managing 35 meals—a tradition proudly upheld by Popolo Catering for years.

Thanksgiving, The Early Years

I’m remembering on when my dad first acquired Popolo’s and ventured into Thanksgiving orders, I can’t say I was thrilled initially. However, the moments spent in our Popolo kitchen on Thanksgiving Day have become an integral part of our family story. Serving the Central Coast of California with delectable food isn’t merely a business for us; it’s a passionate pursuit. Now, spending Thanksgiving in the kitchen feels like second nature.  The youngest grandchildren are now called in to help. This is just how the Castillo family spends Thanksgiving morning.

In the early days, cooking alongside my family, despite my initial lack of excitement, created memories that are etched in my heart. As we wrapped up our cooking for the day, we’d carry home a fully cooked meal to enjoy as a family. The delicious result of our hard work. Over the years, culinary expertise and execution have grown, enabling my parents and brother to finish by 2 pm, leaving plenty of time to head home and share the feast with extended family.

 Support from afar

Residing far away in San Antonio, Texas now, I can’t contribute as I once did when I was a teenager and then as a young mom. Nevertheless, I’m sending waves of encouragement to my mom, dad, and brother as they navigate the Thanksgiving hustle to create memorable experiences for others.

From our Popolo family to yours, we extend warm wishes for a delightful Thanksgiving filled with joy, laughter, and, of course, delicious food.
